Baby garden

Our baby garden at Weston Mill cemetery is a communal burial area for babies less than one month old, stillborn babies and non-viable fetuses. The garden provides families with a place to find peace and tranquillity for moments of quiet reflection.

At all baby burials the graves are dressed with artificial grass mats. The only items allowed on the grassed area are fresh cut flowers. Once the burial has taken place your baby can't be exhumed and moved to another location. The burial of adults or the scattering of their cremated remains aren't allowed in the baby garden. We don't charge for a baby's burial in this area.

Baby memorials

Book of Remembrance

The baby's Book of Remembrance is displayed in the Book of Remembrance room.

The book (two six monthly volumes) has a page allocated to each day of the year and the pages are turned daily so that the memorial entries can be seen on each anniversary. Entries are inscribed by skilled artists and you decide which date the entry is to appear on (usually the date of death).

To ensure the inscription can be seen on the next anniversary, we'll need to receive applications at least six months before the date of entry.

Cost

An entry to the Book of Remembrance is free for babies.

Rose bush

The baby garden has memorial rose bushes that are available on a five or ten-year renewable lease.

Cost

The price includes a plaque (can take up to four weeks to be made) which is placed in front of each rose bush with a short inscription.

Vase block

The granite vase blocks are located in the baby garden and are on a 10, 15 or 20 year renewable lease.

Cost

The price includes the vase block, granite tablet (can take up to six weeks to be made) with an inscription and a silver topped vase for fresh or silk flowers.

Wall plaque

Metal wall plaques are available in the Book of Remembrance room (200mm by 40mm plaque) on a five year renewable lease.
